By sharing our Catholic Faith, our lives are enriched as individuals and as a community.

Mrs. Marcia Caruso
Instructional Assistant

Years assisting: 23 years in education at St. Paul.

Biography: I have always thought I have had the best job ever. I have enjoyed working with all the teachers and staff we have had over the years.  I love working with the children especially when they make me laugh. I think they have kept me young. I wear a lot of hats here (do different jobs) but what is most rewarding for me is being with the students.

Second Grade is a year of discovery as students learn new skills to strengthen the foundation of their education. In language arts, students build upon their reading skills as they begin to explore the world of chapter books and other educational materials. Greater emphasis is placed on spelling, grammar, and writing. Cursive writing is introduced as well as writing in paragraph form.

In math, students work to master their addition and subtraction skills. Telling time, counting money and measurement are also a part of the curriculum.

In religion, students focus on the Sacraments of the Catholic Church, with an emphasis on Reconciliation and the Eucharist. Students also participate in a variety of community service activities. A highlight of the school year is a visit to the Dorris Ranch “living history” farm in Springfield, where students catch a glimpse of how early settlers in our community once lived.
